2012 Gospel Choice Awards
Written by Lady V
The 18th annual Gospel Choice Awards, held at the Georgia World Congress Center, in Downtown Atlanta, was a spectacular sensation and Crunk for Christ radio was right there on the scene bringing you red carpet interviews and backstage exclusives as an official partner of the awards show. The red carpet kicked things and some notable interviews included T-Ran, who talked about his new single, Turn The Lights On, along with his upcoming fashion line 22 Vision, set to come out next year. He said the inspiration for the name of the line came from Proverbs 22:1, “A good man is to be chosen rather than great riches.” An exclusive interview with Marvis Tyrone Scott revealed he is no longer with LaFace Records, but instead working on his brand, ATL Wood, which he described as the merging of Atlanta and Hollywood. “What the ATL Wood movement stands for is basically you can be from anywhere in the world and come to Atlanta and live a Hollywood lifestyle, if you put God first and you are willing to put in the work.”
Following the red carpet walk through was an invitation only Chosen Pastors Reception, which was hosted by Reggie Gay and featured 10 chosen pastors who “exemplify the finest examples of what our church is today.” Among the chosen were Archbishop Ruth Smith Holmes, Pastor Dr. Jeremy Head, Bishop Stewart Resse Jr., and Pastor B. Dwayne Hardin of the Embassy from right here in Atlanta, GA. Immediately following the reception was the start of the awards show where attendees were served some gourmet dishes. Some highlights of the show included an outstanding performance by Canton Jones, who stated he was looking forward to the night to help resurface after a former death in the family. Make sure you keep Cajo and his family in your prayers. Some other great performances included Erica Cumbo, T-Ran, Dr. Pauline Key, Robert Weaver and the Weaver Chorale, and many, many more. Our own, Calvin “PCrunk” McCoy, was an official announcer at the awards show, presenting the Youth Gospel Choice Award for Excellence in Academics to Jeromey Chad Beaman. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Morgan Dukes for her ground-breaking accomplishments through radio and television and the Thomas A. Dorsey Award went to Ann Nesby for creative longevity in music, theater, and film. Other awards included best new artist, best single, best gospel group, best collaboration, and many more. For pictures and show footage from the red carpet visit our channel, Crunk for Christ Radio, on Ustream.tv
Crunk for Christ Radio would like to thank Mr. Creed Pannell Jr., and Pattie Walden for coordinating and putting together an excellent show.
